As the Nordic Harp Meeting 2017 will be held in Estonia this time, this may be an opportunity to learn some Estonian tunes:
- Nõianeitsi: traditional dance tune, playable on an 8-string kannel (and harp too).
Search for it on youtube to find many different recordings and dance videos…
- Kihnumua, another well-known traditional dance tune.
- Üks kuningatütar ja kuningapoeg: this traditional ballad was “hit of the year” at the Nordic Harp Meeting 2015 in Turku. It is the Estonian version of the “Drowning Lover” story which has many international parallels. Sound example on youtube.
